The story begins like this: “Sun gently caresses our skin with its touch. We smile to those moments like in the Garden of Eden, when yet the fruit of sin did not separate us from the others.” And that is exactly how it looked like…
First of all is supposed to be tasted with all your senses: the beauty of full of expression and untamed wildness dance was seductive. What is typical for this theatre the work of lights was fascinating, so was the music, extremely sensual, adding a disturbing depth to the dance. Even the taste and smell were captivated - viewers on a par with the dancers could taste the sweet exotic fruit, which in this context really tasted heavenly, and the air was filled with the sweet aroma of ripe citrus… All this was touched by elusive but clear atmosphere of paradise, where everything is perfectly beautiful but not necessarily real. But it only made it’s charm greater.
Spectacle is built from nine parts – different from each other, but together constituting a whole, sharing a common element – the sun, which in this heavenly edition is giant, red, warm and life-giving. In this glow performers did truly extraordinary dance: form wild, savage parades in “Horses” to soft, sensual “Garden Party”, from wonderful group scenes to perfect, breathtaking solos…
Dancers performed like they’d want to summon all the world’s magic, with transcendental lightness floating, flying above the stage, touching it only at time, almost accidentally. It was so incredibly beautiful it was hard to believe – but no wonder, ideal beauty just can’t be found on earth… When the show was over audience applauded until complete numbness of hands, not wanting to let the artists from the stage. After they left everyone remained with the painful feeling of emptiness in this area of soul that belonged to heaven, feeling of loss of something unimaginably beautiful and important. This is how Adam must have felt after being exiled from heaven… This was marvellous spectacle. I wish we could watch it in Poznań as often as possible, but this may not be easy, for Polish Dance Theatre still haven’t got it’s residence.
