Głos Wielkopolski, Stefan Drajewski"Everyone comprehends and perceives the Horatio idea of carpe diem. Some perceive it as a life philosophy, others as a mode of practice – a type of hedonism, unrestricted freedom. Ewa Wycichowska gave a green light to the play authors and participants to show their understanding of the ancient sentence. She, on the other hand, plays the role of an integrator, a person, who wants to glue shattered mirror pieces together. However, the pieces, do not fit, what, I believe, seems to suit her mind. They create no human story, no picture of a reality inscribing the state of one moment only. The show includes touching moments – dancers slowly dancing in round as the play draws to a close as well as banal ones – a scene with a fern or confetti throwing. How do they relate to one another? I think they do not. But this is real. For some people the smell of the earth when they plant, for instance, a fern is the most crucial moment, and for others the same value hides in a somnambular dance of thoughts. There is one character (played by Iwona Pasińska), which is intriguing to me: in the first part I would call her Ewa, and then she appears like a fairy godmother, in the closing scene she acts like a Public Relation or Marketing Executive. Each of them is creation-oriented. Maybe her presence is to make us realize that after all we are not free in living a moment? Maybe our freedoms are subject to certain restrictions and we are not going to get off scot-free by enjoying them. Maybe they do not depend on us entirely? Wycichowska does not provide ready answers at the end of the show. She opens up interpretation space, where the audience members are to activate their imagination. My imagination was set into motion by two composers: Zbigniew Górny and his son, Marcin. Here, music does not illustrate anything, does not accompany the interpretation. It constitutes a value in itself and is irrevocably combined with movement. The characteristic rhythm, which changes depending on the character of each moment, is the most important. It is ragged, then round, a bit blurred, but always precise. The music by the Górnys explodes with energy, just like moments explode with energy and emotions."
