Andrzej Chylewski, Głos Wielkopolski

Enthusiasts of The Polish Dance Theatre’s work are slowly getting used to their presence at “Scena Rozmaitości”. This time they shown up at the premiere of “Short Cuts” by the Hungarian choreographer, dancer and teacher, Istvan Juhos-Putto. Evening was fulfilled by revised Paulina Wycichowska’s spectacle “Stop Non Stop”, which had it’s premiere on 10th of February 2001.
Putto’s choreography is reducing narration to the body language, to just outlining the relationships, without the ambition of telling the whole stories with their points.
Using cinematic technology, these “short cuts” makes props unnecessary, only dazzling, multifunctional mirrors are being used.
Another peculiar prop, that is consequently bonding entire play is specific music composed by Steve Roach, Robert Rich and most especially by Arvo Pärt. Its raw self-restraint gives Putto’s work this cathedral-like massiveness, so expressive for example in Daniel Stryjecki’s dance.
