| AFRO BRAZILIAN Afro-Brazilian dances derive from traditional and multicultural sources. The Workshops include: ORIXAS - Oricha is the name of a deity in the human body. Each orixa uses its own means of expression manifested in the rhythm of the percussion or songs. These dances are part of the Candomble ceremony. MARACATU – traditional group dance that symbolises subjecting to a king. It is a kind of procession aimed at delivering a strong choreographic effect. COCO – the Tupi Indians dance, also called Baubilo or Zamba. It has a lively and joyful form and is often danced during the coconut harvest. SAMBA – popular Brazilian dance in 4/4 metre. |
